Air Conditioner Repair Tips: Troubleshoot Your Own AC System
When the temperature is high and your AC is not working properly, there is a need for you to solve this quickly. Before calling an air condition repair professional, you can deal with this yourself-
When the condenser stops- When the condenser stops running, the first thing that you should do is to check if the unit is plugged into power. If it is plugged in then you will have to look for a tripped circuit breaker or a fuse that is blown. Afterward, turn on the power and see if the condenser starts.
Another thing that can cause your condenser to stop is a thermostat that isn’t well set. You can lower the thermostat by 5 degrees and see if it gets back to action. If this does not happen then you will require a professional.
The air isn’t cooling- If the air in your home or office isn’t as cool as it is supposed to then you could be having an evaporator that needs some good cleaning. After the cleaning let the unit run for a few hours and if the problem still persists then the reason could be that your air conditioner is not properly sized. Do note that if the temperatures outside are above a hundred then you cannot get 62 degrees inside your house. This is especially true if you have lots of windows that bring in the sun’s energy.
In such situations, you may need your air conditioning unit replaced and hence the need to consult a professional.
